Maki Kimura is Lecturer (Teaching) in Gender and Politics, University College London, UK. She has a twenty-year experience of research and teaching in wide-ranging topics of gender and race inequality, and is particularly concerned with gender-based violence, past and present, and feminist politics with intersectional and post-colonial perspectives.

She is currently working on a BA/Leverhulme funded project ‘War memorials: embodying traumatic pasts and constructing memories of war’ examining how ‘affect’ and emotion are mobilised to form and legitimise contemporary political identities.
